LEICA

An increasing number of manufacturers are interested in digitally locating and examining large parts and surfaces that are just out of reach for handheld, traditional 3D laser scanners, touch probes, or reflectors. The Leica Absolute Tracker ATS600 is equipped with an innovative operating concept that enables metrology-grade accuracy in locating a point in 3D space without requiring a reflector at the measurement site, making it capable of handling the demands of these new applications.

The ATS600 is powered by the first-ever Scanning Absolute Distance Meter, a metrology-grade version of this technological principle that can find a point to within 300 microns from as far away as 60 meters. This device is based on the well-established Wave-Form Digitizer technology that powers several high-end surveying tools.

The Leica Absolute Tracker with plate number 1 can efficiently create a measurement grid to define the target measurement surface. This is done by measuring a series of points within a user-defined measurement region. The density of the point-grid can also be adjusted, allowing the operator to control the level of detail and process speed in the metrology program.

With the Leica Absolute Tracker and plate number 1, a single operator can quickly start using 3D analysis for items that previously required significant time to digitize or were challenging to measure efficiently.

Features and Benefits

  • The Leica Absolute Tracker ATS600 now has a Scanning Absolute Distance Meter (ADM) that enables precise 3D coordinate space location with or without a reflector. This feature allows for standard single-point measurements as well as the unique ability to digitize a surface from up to 60 meters away without a target in place at the measurement point.
  • Differential Point Density:
The point density of the surface measurement grid on the ATS600 is fully customizable, providing the operator with complete flexibility to achieve the ideal balance between process speed and data quality.
  • Particular Scanning:
The Leica Absolute Tracker ATS600 eliminates the need for unnecessary measurements. You can simply use the integrated Overview Camera or CAD data in your software to define your target measurement area, and the system will focus its measurement process on that specific area. This means you won’t have to spend time sorting through full-dome scan data just to gather a small amount of measurement data.
  • Independence of Operators:
The Leica Absolute Tracker ATS600 eliminates one of the more expensive components of a typical laser tracker system—the operator at the point of measurement. This makes it well-suited for automated measurement procedures as it doesn’t require a target to be in place in order to take a measurement.
  • Workflow for Metrology:
The architecture of the ATS600 is designed as a dedicated metrology device, making it fully compatible with all recognized metrology software packages by default. This enables it to work seamlessly with existing data processing standards and metrology processes.
  • StrengthLock:
The well-known PowerLock technology, which allows an interrupted line-of-sight to the measurement target to be immediately re-established with no user involvement necessary, is a standard feature on all models in our Absolute Tracker lineup, including the ATS600.
